VELVET INFERNO ON SALE NOW

Welcome to Velvet. A nightclub where disco reigns supreme and the allure of the dancefloor is inescapable. When a bright-eyed but lost young woman walks in, club owner Country Mike (Brendan Maclean) sees the future. With the help of The Diva (Marcia Hines), a groovy coming-of-age journey ignites.

Velvet Inferno is a 70-minute, non-stop disco spectacular with boiling hot vocals and jaw-dropping circus acts. Directed by Craig Ilott (Gatsby at the Green Light, L’Hotel, Velvet Rewired), expect timeless dancefloor anthems, powerhouse performances and gravity-defying acts.

Be electrified by a red-hot soundtrack of disco classics:  If You Could Read My Mind, Raining Men, No More Tears.

Inspired by Studio 54, the legendary New York nightclub famed for its wild parties and radical inclusivity. Blind to colour, creed, class, gender, size, shape or sexuality. A place where icons like Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger and Grace Jones once strutted their stuff.

The disco is coming. Drinks will flow. The dancefloor will be red-hot. Are you ready to join the party?

SHOWS BEGIN JULY 24, 2026 AT THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE

MARCIA HINES

Marcia Hines is an Australian music icon and a bona fide national treasure.  With a career spanning five decades she has released 22 albums, sold 2.8 million copies and garnered chart-topping singles and multiple platinum albums globally.

Moving to Australia from Boston to Sydney in 1970, at just 16, to star in the Australian production of Hair, she then moved on to the role of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and then has followed an extraordinary career that shows no sign of slowing down!

Her journey is inspirational and her ability to create new adventures is astonishing.  A member of the ARIA Hall of Fame from 2007, the Order of Australia (AM) in 2009, the star of such theatre productions as Shrek, Saturday Night Fever and Grease the Musical, along with concert tours of material from her own albums and the numerous hits from ‘Fire And Rain’ to ‘From The Inside’ to ‘What I Did For Love’ to ‘Without You’, ‘Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees’ and ‘Time Of Our Lives’.  The list goes on but her recording career continues. Christmas 2025 unveiled a new single ‘Christmas Is Groove’, written and produced by the Uncanny Valley team and the theme for the Seven Network Christmas promotion.

Currently Marcia is engaged on the judging of the 2026 season of Australian Idol.  Her recent performances have included the ABC New Year’s Eve concert at the Sydney Opera House, a quick visit to Parkes for the Elvis Festival in January, and then on to a new production of the discotheque theatre spectacular Velvet, this version, to be called Velvet Inferno, commencing at the Sydney Opera House in July.

Her love of high energy stage performance is legendary and her relationship with Australian audiences is a tribute to her strength, commitment and love for them. There is an affection and admiration for the strength and resilience that she continues to show as the Marcia Hines adventure continues.
