Marcia Hines is an Australian music icon and a bona fide national treasure. With a career spanning five decades she has released 22 albums, sold 2.8 million copies and garnered chart-topping singles and multiple platinum albums globally.
Moving to Australia from Boston to Sydney in 1970, at just 16, to star in the Australian production of Hair, she then moved on to the role of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and then has followed an extraordinary career that shows no sign of slowing down!
Her journey is inspirational and her ability to create new adventures is astonishing. A member of the ARIA Hall of Fame from 2007, the Order of Australia (AM) in 2009, the star of such theatre productions as Shrek, Saturday Night Fever and Grease the Musical, along with concert tours of material from her own albums and the numerous hits from ‘Fire And Rain’ to ‘From The Inside’ to ‘What I Did For Love’ to ‘Without You’, ‘Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees’ and ‘Time Of Our Lives’. The list goes on but her recording career continues. Christmas 2025 unveiled a new single ‘Christmas Is Groove’, written and produced by the Uncanny Valley team and the theme for the Seven Network Christmas promotion.
Currently Marcia is engaged on the judging of the 2026 season of Australian Idol. Her recent performances have included the ABC New Year’s Eve concert at the Sydney Opera House, a quick visit to Parkes for the Elvis Festival in January, and then on to a new production of the discotheque theatre spectacular Velvet, this version, to be called Velvet Inferno, commencing at the Sydney Opera House in July.
