Marcia Hines is an Australian music icon and a bona fide national treasure. With a career spanning five decades she has released 22 albums, sold 2.8 million copies and achieved chart-topping singles and multiple platinum albums globally.  This 50+ year journey has been inspirational and a tribute to her strength, resilience and tenacity.

Not only has there been outstanding success in the music business but there have been many major roles in theatre productions.  Starting with Hair, then Jesus Christ Superstar, and then followed such Broadway hits as Shrek, Saturday Night Fever, Grease the Musical, Jerry’s Girls and Big River.

Marcia moved to Australia from Boston in 1970 to star in the Australian production of Hair and then the Daley-Wilson Big Band invited her to be guest vocalist on their tour of Russia.  This was followed by Jesus Christ Superstar and then her recording career took off.  She was crowned Queen of Pop in 1976, 1977 and 1978, made a member of the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007 and awarded the Order of Australia (AM) in 2009.  So much diversity, so many adventures!

An original judge in Australian Idol she then returned in 2025 and remains a central figure in this successful television production.  There has been a flirtation with her childhood love of gospel music and the lead role in the global success of the circus discotheque extravaganza called Velvet.

Above all there is Marcia’s commitment to and love of Australia, the country that accepted her from the moment she arrived.  Her charity work continues with her work with The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, The Wayside Chapel in Sydney, Diabetes Australia, the Unisong Choir in Wagga and the Next Up Music Awards (a youth music initiative).

The journey continues, the adventures are ongoing and her joy in stage performances has never dimmed.  It is this legendary relationship she has with Australian audiences that is her legacy.
